Always had the feeling the Jane child song's chorus was written first, and the verse was just (kinda bad) filler to get you to the next iteration of the chorus (musically speaking)... A criminal mind played endlessly on montreal radio, which was a motivator to get a tape deck for my Chevette, lest I drive to Ontario and strangle Gowan myself. Strange Animal was catchy though

I REALLY wanted to like that Jane Child track when it first came out. I thought that she was so hot and edgy. I just couldn't... and I still can't. Though hearing it does remind me of the time, for sure. I think that this was the beginning of the "We want to be industrial like Throbbing Gristle.... but we don't want to be as sonically challenging as industrial. We want to be catchy... with an edge. And popular." years.
