Hi guys! Totally call him up! I am a Gino Vannelli fan from 1977 and he has a bunch of us. Gino is like a kid in a candy store ALWAYS looking for what is new and then working it to perfection. I keep wanting to interrupt you. You have to interview him! Call Ross from www.ginov.com. You will be so surprised. New music is coming in 2016. I'm coming to see him in Montreal and New York along with a lot of others from all over North America. Catch him on Facebook too. Please, please.
Thanks for the comment Donna! I almost feel like I would prefer seeing him in an unplugged format with a small band or trio. Even acoustic would be very cool.
Anthony, Gino did have an "unplugged" concert this year. His shows are first class all the way with his wonderful band and brother Ross and Matt Greco on sound. He has, I believe, a four octave vocal range still. His songs if you really listen are deep and have a message, even the so called "disco" error songs. He is a total musician who sings, composes, teaches. A musicians musician. Give him another listen. :). Thanks.
I meant to say "disco" era not error. 😊
Gino has mentioned the idea of more acoustic music too Anthony. I was fortunate enough to see him in Chicago at two concerts including an unplugged type of concert. It was equally fabulous. But maybe even more fun, because it was so personal. I'm hopeful that he does release another album soon and we see him at #Merlefest here in NC with a similar approach. He will be a perfect match for Doc Watson's welcoming theme of traditional + (plus being anything you want to play) because if you look at Gino's whole body of work you see a wide variety of music. I think his new work is fabulous. I especially like A Good Thing, Put the Weight on My Shoulders from The Best and Beyond, and absolutely all of the classical CD, Canto. I have a photo of him in Chicago in the mode of unplugged singing with just the piano. His voice is his instrument and it just brings you to the place. I'm looking forward to hearing his new work soon. I still think you should call him. I'm excited to see him in Montreal soon too even plugged up. His #Portland, Oregon band is great ! The music from the far northwest also produces musicians with finesse. They will bring the big house down! This is sold out but he has other Canadian concerts soon. Check him at www.ginov.com .
